St. Mark’s Episcopal Church – San Antonio, TX

Client: Ford Powell & Carson, Inc

St. Mark’s enlisted TBG to transform a parking lot into an engaging courtyard setting to be used for special services, weddings, blessings, gatherings, fundraising and other church events. To accommodate this range of functions, the design includes a stone apse and altar for services set among open space and multifunctional seat walls. A columbarium wall, which also functions as a courtyard barrier, was incorporated due to space limitations within the church itself, and a compelling labyrinth design affords spaces for individual meditation.

The design unites historic character with contemporary needs.
